Safety
Safety
Together for a safe and enjoyable gymnastics experience
At World Gymnastics (WG) and the Royal Dutch Gymnastics Federation, your passion for thesport is central. We want you not only to perform at your best and enjoy your achievements, butto do so in an environment where you feel safe, welcome, and valued. To guarantee this world-class environment, we focus on three essential pillars of safety:
Physical safety
We provide a protected environment with safe equipment and appropriate protocols toprevent injuries and accidents. A medical team is also on site.
Social safety
Your boundaries are respected. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward unwantedbehaviour such as bullying, discrimination, and harassment.
Psychological safety
We foster a culture where you feel free to voice your opinion, share your feelings, and challengeone another respectfully in order to grow.
Together, we ensure that this championship becomes an unforgettable and positive experiencefor everyone. These pillars are set out in the FIG Code of Conduct, which applies to allparticipants (athletes, coaches, officials, and staff). Everyone is responsible for knowing andcomplying with this code.
How does the organisation support you during the World Championships?
We provide a visible and accessible safety net on site:
• Visible information: look out for banners and posters with safety information.
• Safeguarding Team (ESO): our safeguarding employees are present throughout theevent and can be recognised by their white safety vests.• Physical reporting point: you can go to the reporting point in the warm-up hall, near thephysiotherapy area.
• Athlete Representatives: two representatives from the Athletes’ Commission are presentas a point of contact for athletes.
Your role as a bystander
Safety isn’t only relevant to those directly affected. If you see something happen that doesn’tseem right, or you have an uneasy feeling about a situation, even if you’re not sure it’s “seriousenough” to report, trust that feeling. You don’t need proof or certainty to speak up; a suspicionalone is reason enough to raise it with one of the safeguarding officers or the athlete welfareofficer.
Reporting misconduct
Everyone has a duty to report (suspected) violations immediately. This can be done directly withthe safeguarding officers on site, or via:
• Safeguarding number: 06-48 66 39 06
• Speaking with athletes from the WG Athletes’ Commission (via Safeguarding)
• Gymnastics Ethics Foundation (GEF): for (anonymous) reports, including after the event.Reachable via WhatsApp (+41 21 311 13 41) or email.
• Emergencies: contact security or call 06 27 27 53 68
• Life-threatening situations, call 112 immediately
