The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will take place from October 17 to 25, 2026, in Rotterdam Ahoy. Over nine days, the world’s best male and female gymnasts will compete for medals in team, all-around, and apparatus events.

The competition kicks off with the men’s and women’s qualification rounds, spread over three days. The team finals take place on October 20 (men) and October 21 (women), followed by the all-around finals on October 22 and 23. The championships conclude with two days of apparatus finals on October 24 and 25, where the individual apparatus world titles will be decided.

Every session of the World Championships kicks off with a spectacular five-minute opening show! Expect an energetic mix of different gymnastics disciplines, combined with singing, dancing and plenty of entertainment.

So make sure you arrive at Ahoy Arena on time, so you don’t miss a thing and are ready for the start of the competition!

Competition Format

Qualifications

During the qualification rounds, gymnasts compete as part of their national team. They compete on all apparatuses. Four gymnasts per country compete on each apparatus, and the three highest scores count towards the team total.

The top 8 national teams qualify for the team final, the top 24 gymnasts qualify for the all-around final (with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per federation), and the top 8 gymnasts on each apparatus qualify for the apparatus finals (with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per federation).

Team Finals

Which team will be crowned the strongest in the world? During the team final, the top eight national teams compete for the world title. The women compete on four apparatus, while the men compete on six.

Three gymnasts compete on each apparatus, and all three scores count towards the team’s total. The scores from all apparatus are added together. The team with the highest total score is crowned world champion!

All-Around Finals

During the all-around finals, the top 24 gymnasts (maximum two per country) compete for the world all-around title.

In the men’s competition, gymnasts compete individually on all six apparatus: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.

In the women’s competition, gymnasts compete on all four apparatus: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor.

The scores from all apparatus are added together. The gymnast with the highest total score is crowned the 2026 World All-Around Champion!

Apparatus Finals

Who will shine on their favourite apparatus? For each apparatus, the top eight gymnasts from the qualification round qualify for the apparatus final, with a maximum of two gymnasts per country. In the finals, it all comes down to that one perfect routine. The gymnast with the highest score is crowned world champion on that apparatus!

During the first day of apparatus finals on 24 October, the men compete on floor, pommel horse and rings. The women compete for the title on vault and uneven bars.

During the second day of apparatus finals on 25 October, the men compete on vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. The women compete on balance beam and floor.
